Break up with your ironic self.

Irony.

It’s a huge part of who we are/how we operate…until we decide it’s not. Here are some examples:

  • “I want to be seen as a leader, but I’m afraid to speak up and share my point of view.”

  • “I want people to get on board with my idea, but I neglect to let them in on my thinking.”

  • “I want people to see me as strong, yet I play the victim at every opportunity.”

See the irony?

And believe it or not, breaking up with your ironic actions is as easy as deciding to do so. The moment you call B.S. on your actions is the moment you begin the break up process. So the next time you play small when you really want to be larger than life, ask yourself what alternate approach could serve me better? The more you catch it, the less ironic your life becomes.
